Dude, that's crochet! I don't do large crochet projects. There is a half-crocheted blanket in a ziplock bag that I started in 2007 that will attest to this.

(I could probably take the Jackyll and Hyde balaclava/hat and add tentacles to the chin, although that might impede its usefulness as a hat.)

EDIT: Well, hrm. Apparently there is a knitted version, but the pattern costs 3 GBP. OH MY GOD she has matching Innsmouth gloves. *loves*
